Title: Forum component choices and login flow change

Hello,

I have two questions.
1) Which forum component out there would be the best for Joomla?

2) Does Joomla handle login with the jos_users table?  If so, is there any possibility to change the login and member storage mechanisms to adopt different tables and flows?
