Title: Joomla-SMF User Login Issue Post by: trevor on March 05, 2007, 02:12:56 PM I really like your product, the installation was easy because the instructions were so precise. I am having one problem though.
Anyone who registered for the Forum before the Joomla-SMF integration can only log in via the Forum login, the Sidebar login *DOES NOT WORK* Domain: www.deftek.net Screenshots: (http://www.deftek.net/img/joom1.jpg) (http://www.deftek.net/img/joom2.jpg) Settings: PHP built On: Linux burb.romptech.net 2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Jan 30 12:18:01 EST 2007 x86_64 Database Version: 4.1.21-standard PHP Version: 5.2.0 Web Server: Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_gzip/1.3.26.1a mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635.SR1.2 mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.7a WebServer to PHP interface: apache Joomla! Title: Re: Joomla-SMF User Login Issue Post by: -Wolverine on March 05, 2007, 09:02:18 PM I find this hard to understand simply because the way the code is designed. When a user attempts to login from either the forum or joomla we check both SMF db and Joomla db for the user. We then attempt to authenticate the user in both systems. If one succeeds and the other fails then we perform synchronization. The synchronization entails first checking if the user exists. If they do not exist then we create a new user. If they exist then we update their password. So you see, if you can successfully login via SMF it will update your password in Joomla and still log you in.
I checked your site and it appears, at first glance, to be installed properly. Not sure what you can do. How many users are having this issue? Title: Re: Joomla-SMF User Login Issue Post by: trevor on March 06, 2007, 01:15:13 PM Order of occurrence:
Installed PHPBB, got some users (about 70) Switched to SMF (used http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?converters) Installed Joomla! *BACKED UP SMF DB* Installed SMF to same DB as Joomla Imported SMF DB *SUCCESSFULLY* Installed Joomla-SMF Hack EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE WORKING ??? :o (http://www.deftek.net/img/joomla4.jpg) Users who registered before Joomla-SMF Install cannot login. Title: Re: Joomla-SMF User Login Issue Post by: trevor on March 06, 2007, 01:20:18 PM I guess I could have them all re-register... Kind of embarassing though. ::)
Title: Re: Joomla-SMF User Login Issue Post by: -Wolverine on March 06, 2007, 08:32:53 PM two things, first, if you can send me the details about one without it being a privacy issue that might help a ton to figure out what could have gone wrong. In this regards I am looking for the plain text username and password, in addition to the hashed password from both smf_members table and the jos_users table.
The other thing, asking or forcing them to reset their passwords should probably resolve the issue.
