Search Bug? And a question about upgrading
« on: March 31, 2005, 05:39:22 PM »

First of all, cowboy, I must say EXCELLENT WORK!  I cannot say that enough.  I had used the Orstio bridge before and that is a nightmare to install/uninstall.  Your integration works smoothly like a song!  Thank you, not worthy, etc., etc. etc.

I seem to have a problem with the search functionality.  On your forum, clicking the 'Search' button above takes you directly to the Advanced Search.  On mine (see my test site here: test.opencopy.org) it takes me to the Simple Search but the 'Advanced Search' link below the search field does not work.  Is this a configuration issue or a bug?

I also have another quick questions.  Do you plan to implement a functionality where the Integration will be upgraded to a new available version with just a click of a link (maybe something that could be passed on through the live feed)?  Or is that too difficult to accomplish at this point?  I read that Mambo has it on the roadmap to improve the installer so it can simultaneously install components and modules from a single package.  Maybe a thought for the future?

Either way, GREAT, GREAT work.  Many thanks!

Well that was my second goal, make this thing easy to install. I'm glad that it works for you.

Anyway, I've looked at your site. And you've just found a bug. I can fix this quickly and will post the file affected in the announcement board.

About easy upgrade, I actually have that in mind. That's part of the reason why I implemented the live feed. Just like how SMF does the upgrade. Part of that process is actually in action when you click "apply" for inserting the code to the mambo template.

Maybe the whole feature will be part of the next major release.

Ah, what can I say?  Outstanding ideas, outstanding work.  Your Integration approaches SMF in the beauty of its simplicity and functionality.  One of the big winning strategies of Mambo has been the relative simplicity of its installation and use.  As far as I remember their slogan used to be something like 'content management for the masses'.  Well, your integration is one for the masses, too.  A breath of fresh air!

And thanks for looking into the Search bug.  I'll look forward to the fix Smiley

Hi, Cowboy!  Thank you for the patch and for letting me know.  I will wait for the official release, though.  Less work that way Wink
