Need to expand a wrapped SMF
« on: October 15, 2006, 07:15:48 AM »

Helloos =)

1st: Thanks for that wonderful bridge Smiley

Hereīs my question ... Maybe sounds st$p$d, sorry. I got a Joomla! with a bridged and wrapped SMF.

Because it is wrapped, i want to expand it so that it uses the available space (please look at the picture) or nearly all of the available space. So i tried to expand it by changing the forum-width in style.css of smf. That didnīt helped.

Then i unwrapped it and saw, that itīs allready expanded very well so i guess the problem i got with the wrapped smf is related to the bridge in any way, or !?

The space where i painted those "red snakes" should be used by smf Cheesy

Is there anyone who could help me with that? Thanks in advance =)

Try and play around with the wrapper settings in Modules --> site modules-- > your wrapper.

Height and width settings here.

What you need to do is create a version of your main template with the left and right modules removed then apply this to the forum and it will use all the space. Thats what i have done here http://fit-physiques.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=33

This can be solved in the template off SMF. You do not need to do this with the wrapper module Wink

just take al look in the style.css off the theme and
\maincolorcss\default_style.css
\maincolorcss\default_ie.css

Thes three css files do you need to change the them layout

This has helped me a lot to solve this

Most templates use the same class Id as the Joomla templates. there is an option in the bridge to use the Joomla template (I think)

And I changed the with in the index.template.php and in the css files. But I made there a lot of changes ;)to many to list here Tongue

Just take your time to read about Css and custimizing the templates (on Joomlahacks.com and Joomla.org(just saw your question there Wink and the simplemachines.org)) .

I agree to most of your comments but not to all Wink I know a little bit about  CSS and customizing themes. This may be not enough but the problem is --> me ainīt time to learn more so i thought "Ask the people who build that bridge". I thought that forum was here for asking such questions Undecided

I know how to customize the SMF Template but the SMF Standalone-Width is perfect. I know how to customize the Joomla! Template but itīs also ok. What i donīt know is how to tell the bridge that i would like to expand the wrapped SMF to 98% cuz to me it seems that the bridge is the problem.

Anyway ... thanks a lot for your help! You maybe saw my posting on smf-forum,right !? I didnīt post it on joomla.org ..

Rgds.

So you can see on my site. I use the same template. And i did not change any thing in the bridge only in the template off SMF ;)Sorry you posted it on the SMF board not Joomla   Kiss

padding: 0;
margin: 0;
width: 100%;

also have a look into the /maincolorcsss/ * _ie.css files (special definitions for IE)

change (or delete if you use the forum only "wrapped") #wrapper in in these files, too.

That did it, thanks ! I removed :

Code:
#wrapper {
padding:2% 0 0 0;
margin:0px auto;
width:98%;
text-align:left;
width: 900px; /* IE doesn't know min-width :( */
}

from the default_ie.css (because i only use the yellow theme) and the :

Code:
#wrapper {
padding:0% 0 0 0;
margin:0px auto;
width:100%;
text-align:left;
min-width: 600px;
}

from style.css. Looks okay now Smiley Will check it some more later on.

Thanks !
