Very Complex login problem
« on: August 01, 2006, 11:59:09 AM »

Ok... this will be a challenge to spell out, but I'll wager someone here has an easy answer.

My situation is thus:  My Host installed both Joomla and SMF (the newest versions), and when he did he made the login for joomla "admin" and the login for the SMF "admin2."  Now that I have used the newest joomlahack bridge and wrapped the SMF into the website, everything looks great; however, if I login from within SMF within the website as "admin" it wont give me the admin tab for the forums so I can manage them, and if I login as "admin2" from within SMF within the website it says "error 403 forbidden You are unauthorized to view this page."

Now, in trying to figure out the problem I have noticed that when I click on the forums menu item from within the website it goes to: http://fairyportal.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=34, and this is where I have problems, but if I type the following directly into the address bar: http://fairyportal.com/forums/ , then login as "admin2," I am able to get the admin tab and make alterations, but they FUBAR the whole site, and make the forums inaccessible from the forums menu button.

My host/serveradmin doesn't have a clue how to fix it, and neither do I?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thx

Bump.

I realize that this thread may be a really dumb noob question, and that it may be answered in a "read me first" somewhere in the forums or some other thread, but I am very new at this, and am very confused.  If someone could just point me in a direction, I am perfectly willing to try and figure it out myself, I just need a little "nudge."   Huh

Thx

he shouldn't have made the login usernames separate.  Change the SMF admin2 login to simply admin then it should work.  Make sure they have the same password or it will cause problems.

Hi...

My site features as below:
Quote
Joomla 1.0.10
SMF 1.1.RC2
Joomlahacks SMF Bridge 1.5.a
Joomlahacks SMF Login Module 1.1.4.2

I have same problem but with little differents...

Users when try login to my site using SMF Login Mod, if they are entered wrong or incorrect info (username or password), they geting HTTP Error 403...

If they are entered correct users info no any problems... Cheesy

Why reason of this?

(Sorry My Bad English)

we don't have a bridge 1.5a?  Nor do we have a Login module 1.1.4.2.

I am experiencing the same problem.
1. Login with correct user/passwd is fine.
2. Login with bogus user correctly gives the "bad login" error message.
3. Login with valid user, but bad password gives me 403 - Forbidden.

Joomla-SMF Forum 1.1.4.2
I'm using Joomla-SMF Login 1.4.2
Joomla 1.0.10

I've been looking at doMamboSMF and isValidUser functions in functions.smf.php, but so far haven't found anything that fixes this issue. Any ideas?

Update: I should probably add that I am using Community Builder  1.0.1 - the very recent security update, and I have Joomla-SMF options set to use the CB registration and login modules.
