unwritable path
« on: July 14, 2006, 04:07:34 AM »

Hello!

I use Joomla 1.0.10 and Joomla SMF Forum Bridge 1.1 Beta.
I tried to patch, but it occures an errormessage: "Failed: /www/htdocs/w0072267/index.php file or the parent path is not writeable!". The index.php has chmod 777.
I think the problem is the root-path: "Joomla main path (/www/htdocs/w0072267) file or the parent path is not writeable!" It is not wirteable. I do not know how to make this path writeable. When I logged in via FTP, I just see all the files and folders, but how can i make the main path writeable.

I hope you can help me.

I am using FlashFXP.

I also have just to right click on the file. The index.php is writeable. But not the main path. The problem is that I do not know how to make the main path (root) writeable. You understand? Smiley

Also with JSMF 1.1.4.2 the same error occures. The main path is not writeable.

How can I make the main path writeable? This is the big question for me today.  Undecided

the permission settings are the following:

Configuration file (/www/htdocs/w0072267/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php) is writeable
Joomla cache directory (/www/htdocs/w0072267/cache) is writeable
Joomla index file (/www/htdocs/w0072267/index.php) is writeable
Joomla main path (/www/htdocs/w0072267) file or the parent path is not writeable!

When I click on "click to patch - Patch mambo index.php file." I get the error message "Failed: /www/htdocs/w0072267/index.php file or the parent path is not writeable!". The index.php is writeable (chmod 777), but as I said in previous posts, the main path is not.

I have contacted my webhoster. He changed the chmod into 777 of the main path.
Now the permission settings are the following:

Configuration file (/www/htdocs/w0072267/administrator/components/com_smf/config.smf.php) is writeable
Joomla cache directory (/www/htdocs/w0072267/cache) is writeable
Joomla index file (/www/htdocs/w0072267/index.php) is writeable
Joomla main path (/www/htdocs/w0072267) is writeable

Anyway, I still get the error "Failed: /www/htdocs/w0072267/index.php file or the parent path is not writeable!" after clicking on "click to patch - Patch mambo index.php file.". Do you understand this?  Shocked Huh

/edit: The problem is solved. I have not seen the index.php for the main path in the download of the version JSMF 1.1.4.2. Thank you for your help! Have a nice day.  Smiley

It seems like there were trouble with the bridge.
For example, I have selected CB for registration module. But when I click on registration in the smf, i am not linked to the CB-registration. Why? Is there anything wrong?  Huh Undecided
