Changes in Left menu in Joomla

Hello Everyone,

This is my first day at joomla. And i have been given a task to implement ajax  in left menus(I mean this code : http://www.getelementbyid.com/scripts/index.aspx?CodeID=40 ). So can anyone please tell me in which all php files i have to make changes. Its urgent so please replay as soon as possible.
