I've tried the latest version of the Joomla-SMF bridge and when I try to patch my joomla source file, I get the following error:
Failed: /home/sites/site80/web/index.php file or the parent path is not writeable!
The index.php file is writeable to the outside world but not the parent path. What can I do to get around the problem? Can I patch the file manually? If so, what would I need to do?
I'd love to change the permissions myself, but I don't have the rights to do that with my hosting company. I'll bug them to see if they'd change the permission for me for a day or so.
If I can patch the index.php manually, that would also be palatable to me. What does the patching change in the joomla index.php?
Got it working... This ended up being a joomla newbie problem. I did not realize that when I uninstalled the component that I also needed to delete the folder beneath administration/components/com_smf.
I was comparing the code between 1.1 and the latest version and I realized that the old code was still on the web server instead of the new one. So I uninstalled, ensured the com_smf folder was deleted using Mambo_explorer and reinstalled. After that, it all worked fine.
