Registration and login problems
« on: February 27, 2006, 02:53:37 AM »

I have recently upgraded to smf rc2 on my site http://www.dmxdimension.com and bridge v 1.1 rc1.  Now when a new user registers it is not possible for them to log straight in to the forum.  The only way they can log in for the first time is to go via the optional login module.  Is there a fix for this?

J 1.0.4
SMF RC2
Bridge 1.1 RC1

Best Regards

have you patched and syned the users?

Actually, i'd prefer the user log in through the module, rather than from SMF. This way, there is a "centralised" login/out mechanism

I have patched and synced users, although would this make a difference for new user registration anyway??

I would also like to use the login module only, but this presents a problem as the login box is still there at the top of the forum, also my forum is wrapped at full width, therefore there is no space on the forum page for the optional login module.....could be very confusing for the users.

nope, it wouldnt make a difference for new registrations.

you can remove the forum's login box (if you want) through index.template.php in your smf theme's folder.

This is listed as a known problem of 1.1RC1... actually before that but it persists.  The problem is that a login from SMF handles the password differently than Joomla so there is a disconnect in logging in both.  As yet it remains unresolved.  Look for it in future releases.

Aloha!
J!1.0.8
JSMF 1.0.2
SMF 1.1 RC 2 +1 patch
JSMF Log-in 1.4.1

Alrighty I have a log-in issue, after the upgrade new users can only enter/log-in to our web site via logging in through the forums and not through the JSMF log-in mod.

The error that is returned upon logging in through JSMF 1.4.1 = "Incorrent user name or password.  Please try again."

Do others have this issue?

NOTE: Users that were registered on the site before the upgrade can use either forum or JSMF log-in w/ no problems
