New user cannot login
« on: September 28, 2005, 11:33:25 AM »

I am not sure if this is a bug or in the design but, when a user registers they cannot log in first time to the built in login form of the forum.  If they login at least once into Joomla using the joomla login module, they can then login to the forum directly.

yeah, this is one minor problem for now... newly registered user is not autosyncing if they log from SMF. New user needs to login from Joomla first. I was trying to addres this, but beta 1 will be hold off as it would need quite a change.

On the other hand, existing user should have no problem logging in from anywhere.

I can't log in from the forum's login at all.  I have logged into Joomla several times and cannot login through SMF.  Am I missing something?

I also notice that there is a issue with this forum too.  I cannot "stay" logged in.  Periodically I have to go back and put my username and password in after I notice that I am now a guest and no longer logged in.  So is this a SMF Hack problem?

I have been testing this a little further and have found that I cannot log-in with the short log-in box on the SMF Forum, however, if I click "Log in" (On the SMF Forum) and go to the log in page (the SMF log in page), it will allow me to log in there.  It seems as though the only place I cannot log in at is the short log in box.  I even tried changing it from forever to one hour, and so on.  It says incorrect 'username or password' everytime.

Ok, I am sorry to clutter up the threads here.  I guess I could have figured this all out on my own if I would of had the patience first.  Anyway, the log-in problem with the short log-in section of SMF is due to the mercury theme I was using.  If I switch back to the default, or the YaBB theme, I do not have a problem.  So I guess I will have to find another theme, or just adjust the css and template a little for these others.  However, there is still a problem with SMF loggin you out.  Even if I click remember me in the Joomla log-in box, or the Forever option in SMF, after about an hour I am still automatically logged-out.  I think I have read about this before.  Is this a common issue?

I am also still having some problems with module compatibility.  I have it with every template that I try with Joomla.

same problem here, NEW registered users canīt login.
using the joomla login module the user is being redirected to the smf-forum login where the username doesnīt exist.

using the joomla login module..the same.

there seems to be a new-user-sync problem, the new users are in the joomla database/userlist but not in the smf

existing user logins do work.
if i disable the component/dispatch the index.php files, the login on the joomla system works

my site is... http://www.mlife.at

SMF themes are not the same. Just be sure that login code of the theme you're using is similar to the code in the default theme. About the logged out issue, this will be address on the next release.

Users,

Please choose the SMF registration form on the component admin if you are bothered by this minor issue. If you don't do this, newly registered user will have to login first from Joomla to sync the data to SMF.

I'm having this same issue, me thinks.

On my site at joomlashack I get alot of users reporting *user does not exist* errors, although I'm not completetly sure the smf login is the culprit. From the looks of the above posts this error occurs when the user tries to log in from the forum instead of the module?

Do you suggest I turn off the login buttons in the SMF theme? Is there possibly a session error?

Can you elaborate just a little on the above quote, please? I'm not much of an SMF expert but trying to learn a little more about it. Any insight would help immensely.

cheers
